Personal Summary

Dr. Coreen Duffy is the Interim Director of Choral Activities at the University of Montana School of Music, where she conducts the Chamber Chorale, Cantemus Women’s Choir, and University Choir, teaches conducting and choral methods, and supervises student teachers. Before arriving at the University of Montana, Dr. Duffy served on the faculty at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where she conducted ensembles and taught an array of conducting, arranging, and music history courses. Dr. Duffy is an active clinician as well as a composer. Her choral works are published by Walton Music, ECS Publishing, and Pavane Publishing and regularly featured on reading sessions and as recommended repertoire.

A specialist in Jewish choral music, Dr. Duffy has designed special performance and interest sessions dedicated to Jewish repertoire at two National American Choral Directors Association Conferences (Dallas, 2013 and Chicago, 2011). She founded the Second Avenue Jewish Chorale of South Florida; under her direction, the ensemble performed at such venues as the ACDA Florida Conference in Orlando and the North American Jewish Choral Festival in New York. Dr. Duffy recently served two terms as Repertoire & Standards Chair for Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives in the Florida ACDA. Dr. Duffy earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral music from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, and the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. She received the Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Musical Arts, and Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
