A memorial service for John McCormick will take place in the University Center Monday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. A reception will immediately follow. John’s obituary is in today’s Missoulian.

With regard to his time at UM, the obituary reads:

“In 2002, John accepted a job at the University of Montana in the Finance department and moved to Missoula. At the time of his death, John was the Business Services Director and the Interim Director of the Adams Center. John loved his job at the University and his co-workers and they enjoyed his witty sense of humor. John loved to go to work every day.”

John’s passing has been very difficult for members of our campus community, especially those who worked closely with him during his 16 years in service to our university. Since joining the UM family, I’ve grown to appreciate the friendships and camaraderie so common among our employees across the campus. I know John’s passing has been difficult for many, and I encourage you to come together to honor his life and service to our great university.

We are working hard to maintain the continuity of our operations, but I ask for your patience moving forward. As we work through decisions around the director of Business Services position, as well as the interim role in the Adams Center, we will share them with the campus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Missoula YMCA MYST Swim Team or the University of Montana Foundation in memory of John McCormick, P.O. Box 7159 Missoula MT 59807.
