UM Names Renae Scott CIO

Please join me in congratulating Renae Scott on her appointment as the University of Montana’s chief information officer. Renae was previously UM’s assistant CIO and has served as interim CIO since Matt Riley’s departure in September 2018. In that time, she has contributed greatly to our IT initiatives, while being inclusive and an outstanding campus collaborator.

Prior to coming to UM in January 2017, Renae served for 27 years at Rice University in Houston, Texas, working across most realms of information technology, including networking, enterprise systems, security, risk management, project management, systems management, application management and analysis. She also has experience as a consultant in higher education and other sectors.

Renae’s steady leadership and support of UM while she served as interim CIO has been invaluable. She has a deep knowledge of systems engineering, integration and a vision for how to best support our University and move us forward with new and innovative technologies.

Information technology touches virtually every area of the campus: It is integral to our ability to deliver programs, support our students and employees, and enable all of our campus operations. I am grateful for Renae’s current and future contributions to our team.
