Fall Youth Camps Start Sept. 8

September 4, 2020

Dear Campus Community,

To further accommodate the child care needs of the UM family, Missoula Parks and Recreation now will enroll the children of University students and the middle school-aged children of both employees and students in the Fall Youth Camps offered on campus. These children can start attending the MPR Fall Youth Camps on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Registration information is available at the end of this message.

To start, middle school students will be included in the larger Fall Youth Camps MPR currently offers on campus. While MPR will tailor activities to meet the needs and ability of every child in the program, middle school children will be challenged appropriately by programming modifications. If the number of middle school students allows for programming specialized to this age group, MPR will begin to offer this at that time.

Also starting next week, MPR will use the boxes in Washington-Grizzly Stadium for this program. Thank you to UM Athletics for their work to make this possible.

Current camp offerings will run through Sept. 18 and then will be reassessed by MPR based on the Missoula County Public Schools schedule. To continue to cover the needs of the UM family, MPR will explore offering after-school camps for K-8 children of UM faculty, staff and students once MCPS moves to the Phase 2: Modified Schedule.

If you have questions about camps, recreation grants or the online registration process, email MPR at parksrec@ci.missoula.mt.us; please include your phone number and preferred registration options. You also may contact MPR directly at 721-PARK (7275). (MPR shared that their phone lines have been extremely busy, so email is the preferred option.)
