Brawl of the Wild

November 13, 2023

Dear Campus Community,

It is with great excitement that we welcome Brawl of the Wild week!

In addition to the rivalry football game on Saturday, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in one of the busiest weeks of the fall semester.

Can the Cats
This important annual tradition benefits both the Missoula Food Bank and our own UM Food Pantry, allowing our community to better support those who are food insecure. Donations are accepted through Saturday morning, so please visit canthecats.com to find a convenient location to donate.

Blood Battle
Similar to Can the Cats, the annual Blood Battle is a competition between the Griz and the Cats to donate life-saving blood for local Red Cross agencies. Schedule your appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or using the Blood Donor App. The sponsor code is GRIZCATCHALLENGE.

Board of Regents Meeting
The Montana Board of Regents will meet this week in the UC Ballroom. The meeting begins on Thursday morning and continues until late Friday morning. The Board of Regents is the governing body for the Montana University System, and these meetings provide us with the opportunity to showcase UM’s collective efforts for our state, on behalf of our faculty, students and staff

Wear Griz Gear
All week, we encourage students and employees to wear Griz gear as a way to showcase pride in their work and our collective impact. If you are looking for a new Griz shirt to add to your collection, swing by the Go Griz Store (formerly the UM Bookstore) to purchase ASUM’s Brawl of the Wild shirt. Proceeds from each sale will directly support UM student groups.

122nd Brawl of the Wild
On Saturday at noon, the Griz and Cats will square off for the 122nd time in our Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Let’s support our student athletes, the Grizzly Marching Band and everyone who has been working so hard this fall to make football Saturdays such a vibrant part of the UM community. While we cheer on our Griz, let’s all demonstrate UM values while in the stands. This is another opportunity to show the state the best of our institution and the Montana University System. This cherished rivalry comes from a place of respect, and let’s do our best to model that.

This is a wonderful week to celebrate our progress and underscore why UM is so important to our state. So please visit Griz Hub and participate in one of the Brawl of the Wild Week activities.

Go Griz!
