Colleagues,
I'm pleased to share the University of Montana's FY27 Playbook:
This is an ambitious playbook reflecting important work underway across the University and the momentum UM has built in recent years. It addresses the opportunities and challenges before us - from improving student success and serving a wider range of learners to growing our research impact, supporting our employees, and strengthening the infrastructure that makes our work possible.
The playbook also gives us an opportunity to learn where coordinated action creates the greatest impact, where our efforts need stronger alignment, and where we must make clearer choices. We will begin the process of developing next year's playbook soon, and I expect we will apply what we learn this year to sharpen our priorities, concentrate our resources, and focus our collective attention on a smaller number of efforts with the greatest potential to serve students and Montana.
Strategy matters to the extent that it leads to action. I'm grateful to the faculty and staff who helped shape this playbook and to the many colleagues who will bring it to life. I encourage you to review it and consider how your work contributes to our shared mission.
We serve students. We serve Montana. This playbook gives us a clear path for doing both.
For Montana,
Jeremiah
