Christina Gunter
My name is Christina Gunter. I have been working at Walton Options for Independent Living for 3 years. I am a Coordinator for the STAR/Durable Medical Reuse Program, Accessible Gaming Program and the Project Independence (Older Blind) Program. I have also been a part of the Living Well in the Community program, facilitating classes in person and assisting with University of Montana’s Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities Research studies. I enjoy these programs and they have been a blessing to me as I have been able to help others with promoting their self-advocacy, assist families when they just didn’t know what to do or where to turn, seeing the smiles on someone’s face as they realize they are able to do something again that they were unable to do and many more experiences in the time I have been here.
Prior to my experience at Walton Options, I have been an advocate for my daughter during her battles of health issues that have now become a more full time disability. We have learned to navigate advocacy for her with her doctors, school and in her daily life experiences. She is now her own advocate as she has reached adulthood and provides for others peer support and guidance for shared experiences with Dysautonomia and POTS.
I look forward to many more experiences with our community, consumers, my friends, family, and coworkers as we continue to move forward with the goal of helping as many as possible receive what is needed to continue to be independent and living their best lives!
