Peers Reaching Out (PROs)

  

PROs Win National Awards

PROs are student peer health educators who work to improve the health of fellow UM students. PROs are students from diverse majors and backgrounds who earn academic credit and gain valuable experience as leaders in student health.

What PROs do:

  • Create, present & facilitate interactive programs
  • Talk with individual students about health
  • Plan and conduct events on campus
  • Provide health resources at campus events
  • Have lots of fun
  • Meet loads of Life-long friends

PROs Programming

PROs provide interactive health information programs for dorms and Greek houses. Examples of programs available include:

  • Condom Bingo
  • Safer Sex Twister
  • Dude Where’s My Beer
  • How to Get Better Grades Without Studying More
  • College Health Jeopardy
  • Alcohol Poisoning Prevention
  • Beating the Freshman 15
  • Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex…but were afraid to ask!

How to become a PRO:

1. Register for HHP 370 (3 credits, Spring semester only)
2. Complete the course for training, skills, team building, and health information.
3. Return the following Fall semester to become an active PRO. (varying number of credits awarded)
