Join us for an evening celebrating the arts and media at the University of Montana—paying tribute to our current students, past alumni, and their artistic journeys. We will feature students across the College of the Arts and Media (CAM) and are proud to applaud the many contributions and achievements of the renowned Curt Olds as our 2023 honoree.

Accomplished director, internationally renowned baritone in opera and musical theatre, and business owner, Curt Olds, has graced the stages of Broadway, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall, as well as numerous appearances with regional, national and international performing arts companies and symphony orchestras.

From Don Pasquale and Die Zauberflöte to musicals such as A Little Night Music, The Threepenny Opera, Broadway’s Riverdance and Cats, Olds is best known for his portrayal of the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, and his signature role as Ko-Ko in The Mikado.

In 2019, Olds joined the International Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, with performances in Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tel Aviv, and South Korea. Through his company, Black Tie Broadway, he adapts musicals and Broadway concerts that have been seen across the U.S.

Olds received a Fellowship at the esteemed DeVos Institute’s BAM/Kennedy Center Professional Development Program and earned a master’s degree in Vocal Performance/Opera with Distinction from Boston’s New England Conservatory. A Butte native, he proudly holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Montana. Curt is a former Central City Opera McGlone Artist of the Year.
