Direct Admit Program

Direct admission means you’re a College of Business (COB) student from day one at the University of Montana. Early exposure to business curriculum helps you begin discovering your passions and preparing for your future career. Starting as a freshman, you’ll engage with an innovative curriculum, networking opportunities and have access to all the services provided by the Gianchetta Student Success Center (GSSC).

Freshman admission to the College of Business is handled through the University of Montana Office of Admissions. If you are a graduating high school senior you should apply to the University of Montana as a freshman and choose Business Administration as your intended major. The Office of Admissions considers every application in its entirety and completes a holistic review. There is no single fact or figure that determines your admission.

APPLICATION

Before you fill out the Direct Admit Program/Scholarship Application you need to complete the general Freshman Admission application to the University of Montana. See the UM Admissions website for more information about general admission requirements and how to apply to UM.

When completing the general UM application, make sure you select Business Administration as your intended major. You will then receive the short Direct Admit application.

Priority deadline for application submittal is March 1, 2023. The College of Business will continue to review applications beyond that date until the cohort is complete.

The DAP application also doubles as the College of Business Scholarship Application, so you do not need to fill out a separate scholarship application.

BENEFITS

Freshmen in the Direct Admit Program will have access to the following benefits belonging to the College of Business:

  • Active engagement with COB faculty, staff, alumni and current students
  • Networking with other high potential business students
  • Services provided by the GSSC
  • Leadership development training
  • Opportunities to explore global business through study abroad immersion trips
  • Invitation to COB special events
  • Specific scholarships for Direct Admit students
  • Priority access to additional COB scholarships

NOTIFICATION

You will hear about admission to the University of Montana before you hear from the College of Business. College of Business Direct Admit acceptance letters will be sent via email prior to May 1.

Students that have received an acceptance letter via email will need to follow the instructions on that letter to accept the invitation to join the Direct Admit Program.

If you are not admitted to the Direct Admit Program, please note it is not the only path to becoming a business major. If you choose UM, academic advisers will be happy to meet with you to discuss strategies to maximize your chances of admission as a junior once you are on campus.
