Center for Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics
The Center for Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics (CBSD) applies biophysics and structural biology to understand the mechanistic basis of biological processes in health and disease. The Center supports biophysically informed research throughout the University of Montana (UM) research community and for external users. We do so by supporting core research facilities for macromolecular and small molecule X-ray crystallography, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, BioSpectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry and Molecular Computation that provide the instruments and expertise in these biophysical methods to UM faculty and external users.
The work of the CBSD is supported by the National Institute of General Medical Science IDeA program by a Center of Biomedical Research Excellence grant (CoBRE grant number P30GM140963). During phases 1 and 2 of NIH CoBRE funding, we supported Project Investigators and core research facilities. During phase 3, NIH CoBRE funding, our emphasis is on further developing and sustaining our core facilities.
