After accommodations are approved
The Alexander Blewett III School of Law provides support for students with approved accommodations. Follow the steps below once your academic accommodations are approved by the Office for Disability Equity (ODE).
Step 1: Receive an accommodation letter
ODE will send an accommodation letter to you and the Assistant Director of Student Affairs.
Step 2: Schedule a meeting
Meet with the appropriate law school staff member to review how your accommodations will be implemented.
- Exam accommodations: Assistant Director of Student Services
- All other accommodations: Assistant Director of Student Affairs
During your meeting
- The assistant director will discuss how your accommodations will be applied in your courses.
- If approved for lecture recordings, you must sign a recording agreement.
Step 3: Ongoing communication
-
Students who receive exam accommodations must arrange them with the Law School Registrar (or designee) at least two weeks before each scheduled exam.
- Contact your access consultant with any questions or concerns about your approved accommodations.
- To request new or updated accommodations, schedule an appointment with your access consultant.
Technical standards
Students must meet the law school's technical standards with or without reasonable accommodations and maintain related satisfactory demonstration of these standards for progression through the program.
Consultation on accommodation reasonability
- If an accommodation appears to conflict with the law school’s academic and technical standards, ODE will consult with the law school designee and the Dean of Students to assess its reasonableness.
