School Counseling MA

The master's degree in School Counseling is a 60 credit program of study. This rigorous program provides students with the coursework necessary for becoming licensed school counselors in the state of Montana. In addition, consistent with CACREP national standards, the program requires that students obtain at least 700 hours of supervised school counseling experience, 600 of which must occur within an appropriate school setting. Currently, throughout the state of Montana, professional school counselors are in high demand. If you're interested in becoming a professional school counselor, we hope you'll consider enrolling in this gratifying program.

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the School Counseling program in the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Montana College of Education.

Our School Counseling MA program is undergoing a shift to online instruction, and updated information will be posted on the website as it becomes available. Anyone interested in the online School Counseling program can reach out to Emily Sallee at Emily.sallee@mso.umt.edu.

The School Counseling MA application for summer 2024 will remain open until filled.
