The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued final deadlines for compliance to their final rule regulating methylene chloride (CAS# 75-09-2, also identified as dichloromethane or DCM) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Campus research operations that use this material will be asked to stop DCM use or justify why they need to continue using the chemical. Other Campus operations have been discontinuing use since the time of the original ruling and subsequent extensions.
