Pathways Program

Program Overview

UM’s Undergraduate Pathway program provides academic, language and cultural support to help international students to succeed at the University of Montana.  Students can begin in the Pathway Program at the beginning of either the fall or spring semesters. Students can pursue two tracks of study in the Undergraduate Pathways Program: the Degree-Seeking Pathway Program or the Study Abroad Pathway Program.

Required: C&I 195: Global Competence (Fall) or C&I 160: Learning Strategies of Higher Education (Spring) (UM, 2 credits)

Credit-bearing courses that count towards major:

  • If the student has a 525 TOEFL score or higher, the student can register in any course related to major as long as the course does not have prerequisite requirements
  • If the student has less than a 525 TOEFL score, the student will only be able to register for 100-level courses

Required: EASL 250 or 251 writing course or equivalent (UM, 3 credits)

Lower division, credit-bearing courses that count towards major

Maximum credit hours: 18
