Core Classes

ELI has two core classes, which include learning and practicing reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and note taking. Grammar skills are integrated into both core classes. Integrated Reading, Writing & Vocabulary meets 7.5 hours/week, and Speaking, Listening & Note-Taking also meets 7.5 hours/week.

Electives

Two hours per week are dedicated to optional elective courses offered each session. Possible electives include TOEFL Preparation (taught every fall and spring semester), pronunciation skills, grammar workshop, service learning, study skills, and film studies.

Culture Seminars

New ELI students are required to attend our culture seminars and returning students are welcome to sign up for free! The seminars introduce you to a variety of topics covering American culture, student life, and local knowledge. Participation in this program will help you adjust to your new life in Missoula and at University of Montana.
