Our Mission

The English Language Institute (ELI) serves non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English language and academic skills in order to pursue personal, professional, and academic goals at the University of Montana (UM) or another institution of higher learning.

Our History

• Founded in 1993
• Taught students from more than 44 countries
• Serves international students with limited English proficiency who wish to improve their English language and academic skills
• Housed in Global Engagement Office (GEO)
• Provides academic year and summer instruction, as well as tailored short-term English language training programs
