Proposal Steps

Step 1

Consider the Program Structures and corresponding deadlines

*Program leaders should complete applications before these deadlines.Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Step 2

Meet with the Director of Education Abroad for assistance in developing the program proposal

In the meeting, the following will be discussed:

  • Program structures
  • Online proposal process
  • Resources and support services provided by Education Abroad (including customized online student application systems and program management

Step 3

Prepare and submit the proposal

  • Consult Guidelines for preparing the proposal
  • Program Directors whose program is sponsored by the College of Health or UM Health and Medicine, will need to complete a Supplemental Questionnaire, provided in the online application

Step 4

Proposal Review Process

Your proposal will be reviewed by your chair/director, dean, and Director of Education Abroad.You will be notified within one month of the decision.

Step 5

Recruit Students

Visit the University of Montana's Education Abroad social media for examples of and inspiration for online marketing of programs.

Step 6

Meet with the Director of Education Abroad to discuss pre-departure preparations, health and safety and money handling

Provide orientation for students, sign Program Director Roles and Responsibilities Agreement, and complete health, safety, and risk management training.
