Wyatt's Experience in the GLI
I was able to land a position as a fly-fishing guide in Iceland for my Beyond the Classroom Experience. I chose to pursue that because of my experience in fly-fishing and leadership. I have led groups of students as a resident assistant for a few years and knew my experience would come in handy. I learned that I could transfer my skills internationally and use them to lead small groups of people from over 15 different countries. I also learned how many opportunities are out there if you just apply yourself and ask.
What advice would you give to other students who are considering GLI?
GLI will provide you with experience that you can and will use for the rest of your life. If you already have experience, then GLI will amplify your ability to utilize those skills. Joining GLI was a no-brainer for me, and if you’re not completely sure about the program, I urge you to give it a shot. It’s worth it!
