Sunset in New Zealand

The Franke Global Leadership Initiative acknowledges that we are in the aboriginal territories of the Salish and Kalispel people. We honor the path that Indigenous peoples have always shown in caring for this place for generations to come. The Franke GLI supports our students in learning about systems of oppression that harm Indigenous peoples throughout the world, to consider how oppressors have benefited from settler colonialism and other repressive practices, and to search for real-world, applicable solutions to racism and marginalization. Participation in the Franke GLI affords students opportunities to explore the world and all of its challenges through studies abroad or closer to home. We acknowledge that many of these experiences take place in aboriginal territories. Through the tools that GLI students acquire through this program and beyond, we encourage them to learn about and engage with the places, cultures, and peoples they experience.
