Sam's experiences in GLI

Sam's Beyond the Classroom Experience this spring is a Wilderness Medicine Semester with Aerie Backcountry Medicine, through which he will earn a Wilderness EMT certification as well as several additional SAR and outdoor recreation related certifications. The first month of the program takes place in Costa Rica, where Sam will learn EMT skills and have an opportunity to provide medical services to remote communities. Afterwards, Sam will return to Montana to complete clinical rotations and undergo training across the state for Avalanche Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, and Wildland Firefighting.

I am stoked about the opportunities that will come from the GLI program, both professionally and personally. Professionally, in terms of the doors that will open from the skills I acquire. Personally, from the growth I undergo as I challenge myself and learn new things and build confidence in my skills and endeavors.
