2026 Vital Signs: Connecting Health and the Humanities

In Collaboration with ORCS, the Institute of Health and Humanities, Creative Writing, and WGSS

Part I. Research Workshop, 2-3pm, Eck Liberal Arts Building, Room LA 103A

The Vital Signs research workshop brings together researchers from across disciplines to identify shared questions, explore intellectual overlap, and envision new possibilities for collaborative research. The goal is to create space for conversation through a generative activity facilitated by the Research Development team at the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship with opportunities for further collaboration. Part II. Writing Workshop, 3:30-4:30pm, Eck Liberal Arts Building, Room LA 103A

A generative writing workshop that includes a facilitated topic introduction, independent writing time, and conversation. Participants will leave with ideas for future projects.

Part III. Public Reading, 6-7:30pm, Dell Brown Room

Brian Buckbee, author of We Should All Be Birds, a Washington Post Best Book of 2025, will lead us through a dynamic, experiential evening of reading, listening, and conversation. Appetizers will be served. Book sales will be available from our partners at Fact & Fiction Books.

Free and open to all.
