Four UM Role Models Travel Across the Big Sky

Our team left Missoula on the afternoon of Sunday, October 9 and started the long drive East to Billings. Along the way, we saw prairie dogs, pronghorn antelope and some of Montana’s most spectacular landscape bathed in late afternoon light.

Our tour traveled to Billings, Bozeman and Great Falls.
5 Schools
Billings West High School, Billings Senior High School, Bozeman High School, including the Bridger Alternative Academy, C.M. Russel High School and Great Falls High School.

1047 Students
From first-year French to fourth-year AP Physics, our Role Models connected with over a thousand secondary school students. As an added highlight, one of the teachers from Bozeman let us know that a senior who had met with UM role model Mark Reiser visited his school’s College and Career Center the following Monday to apply to study physics and astronomy at UM.

1 Snow Storm
Our team awoke on Tuesday morning to find Bozeman (and our trusty vehicles) covered with a thick blanket of snow. Added bonus: it was Tropical Day for Spirit Week at Bozeman High, and students were festooned in straw hats and leis. Some were wearing flippers and we even spied one clever shark!
