Hello,

We are fast approaching the start of your time here at UM, and we want to make sure your transition is smooth!

If you have not spoken with your academic advisor or seen your fall semester class schedule yet, that means you likely still have Bear Tracks tasks to complete. Check your status here. If you have tasks remaining, you should complete them as soon as possible. Once all your tasks are complete, your academic advisor will create your schedule for you. Once that's done, you'll get an email with directions explaining how to access and view your course schedule. You can meet with your advisor if you would like to make any changes - but appointments are not required.

New Student Orientation and the Big Sky Experience look a little different this year. Here is some vital information about each of the remaining steps in your transition to campus:

  • New Student Orientation: Coming Soon!
    • In just a few short weeks you will gain access to our brand-new and improved online orientation program. This self-paced and interactive program consists of a wide range of content from student life and academics to campus and community support, safety, and next steps.  Keep an eye out for an email inviting you to begin the first week of August.
  • Looking for some extra adventure?
  • Residence Hall Arrival: Monday, Aug. 21
    • Students living in the residence halls should select an arrival period via the myHousing Portal
    • Students in Grizzly Marching Band, athletics, the Freshman Wilderness Experience, the Flathead Lake Biological Station trip and other programs should follow early-arrival instructions specific to their group.
  • Big Sky Experience: Monday-Friday Aug. 21-25
    • First-year students are expected to attend programming all week. If you have not selected your site activity you should do so before selection closes on Monday, Aug. 14.  Anyone who does not pre-select a group by this date will be placed into an open site when they check in for orientation. Register and select your site here.
    • Parents and families are encouraged to join their students for welcome events on Monday, Aug. 21, and the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 22.
    • View the Big Sky Experience schedule here.

We can’t wait to see you in just a few short weeks – stay tuned for more specific information about arrival, parking and check in.

See you soon, Griz!
