Biography

A historian of religion in the twentieth century, Dr. Lerone A. Martin speaks about the intersection of religion and politics in American life to audiences nationwide. The faculty director of Stanford University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute, Dr. Martin has published widely, including the award-winning Preaching on Wax: The Phonograph and the Making of Modern African American Religion. His forthcoming book is The Gospel of J. Edgar Hoover: How the FBI Aided and Abetted the Rise of White Christian Nationalism.
