Fast-Paced Storytelling on Sustainability and Climate Action

  • Wednesday, October 8, 2025 5:30–7:00 PM (Presentations begin at 6:00)
  • DHC Patio 
  • Free Admission, Free Parking after 5:00 pm
  • Local Farm-to-Table Hord'Oeuvres from UM Campus Catering

Join us for the first annual Sustainability Slam, an entertaining evening where campus and community members share fun, creative, and inspiring ideas for building a resilient future.

As part of Campus Sustainability Month, we’ll highlight projects, personal stories, and big ideas that spark climate action and sustainable change.

 

Location:

The Davidson Honors College is located on the southeast side of The Oval. Click here for a google map of the location. Weather permitting, we will be on the DHC Patio. Enter through the main doors and continue straight to the commons area.

Parking: 

Parking is free at UM after 5:00 PM. The closest parking lots to the DHC are Lots C and A, and the Parking Terrace.

What to Expect:

  • Up to 20 presenters — each gets 2 minutes to make their pitch.
  • Topics may include personal sustainability journeys, poems or short stories, exciting programs, creative climate solutions, or research with real-world impact.
  • Tabling and Mingling — meet local organizations, student clubs, and sustainability groups.

Slammers: 

  • This event is Emceed by Justin Angle, Professor of Marketing in the UM College of Business
  • Slammers currently include: 8 Missoula Community Members, 5 UM Employees, and 3 UM Students

 

How to Apply to Present

We’re seeking diverse voices from students, faculty, staff, and community members

Application deadline: Midnight, October 2, 2025

To apply:

  1. Prepare a 100-word abstract describing your pitch.
  2. Submit via the online application form at the link here.

Guidelines for Presenters

  • Keep your pitch to 2 minutes — we’ll have a timekeeper.
  • Expect stage lights, a microphone, video recording, and audience interaction.
  • No materials may be distributed during your presentation, but table space will be available afterward.
