First Option
The Office of International Programs provides a semester or a full year of study in Italy in one of four Italian universities though the ISEP program: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan), Università degli Studi di Pavia, Università degli Studi di Trieste, Università degli Studi di Urbino "Carlo Bo".
This option provides linguistic and cultural study in courses designed for foreign students and allows students whose linguistic skills are adequate to enroll in regular university courses, taught in Italian. Some universities are offering classes in English. ISEP is open to students of all majors, but students planning to study abroad in Italy and taking classes taught in Italian should have two years of university study in Italian. Students must develop a study plan with their major advisor in order to insure efficient transfer of credits.
Second Option
A second option, again in conjunction with the Office of International Programs, is a direct exchange with four universities in Italy: Università degli Studi di Brescia, Università degli Studi di Siena, Università degli Studi di Torino, Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale Amedeo Avogadro.
Some courses are offered in English, other courses require UM students to possess an adequate linguistic preparation in Italian to take regular courses.
