Dear Grizzlies,
It is an honor to write to you for the first time as the 20th president of the University of Montana.
I am already inspired by what I have seen: extraordinary students, dedicated faculty and staff, passionate alumni and a clear commitment to serving Montana.
For 133 years, UM has shown Montana, our nation, and our world what is possible. Through changing times and evolving challenges, this institution has remained steadfast in its purpose: transforming lives and creating opportunities for Montanans.
It is this mission that brought me to UM, and it is what we will continue to strengthen.
Every day, each of you contributes to that work. Whether you teach, conduct research, advise students, maintain our facilities, or provide other essential services, you create the conditions for UM students to succeed and for the University to thrive. That is what unites us, and I want you to know that dedication toward those ends will not go unnoticed.
We will build upon the strong foundation already in place and continue the momentum the University has achieved in recent years. I look forward to listening, learning, and partnering with you as we shape the next chapter of this remarkable institution together.
