How many scholarships does COB award?

The College of Business awarded 214 scholarships, totaling over $540,000 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Am I eligible to receive a scholarship?

Students in the College of Business can apply for scholarships during the freshman application process, their sophomore, junior, and senior years and/or as graduate students in the MBA, MSBA, and MAcct programs. Scholarships are competitive, and submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship award. All eligible students, however, are encouraged to apply.

Undergraduate Eligibility

  • Attain freshman admissions, sophomore, junior, or senior status.
  • Have declared one of the business majors (Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity or Marketing).
  • Enrolled or plan to enroll full-time (12 credits minimum per semester) during the 2024 - 2025 academic school year.
  • Hold a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  • Complete an online application by March 1, 2024

Graduate Eligibility

  • Apply to the MBA or MAcct program by February 1, 2024
  • Enrolled or plan to enroll full-time during the 2024-25 academic year
  • Complete an online application by March 1, 2024

How do I apply?

Complete and submit an online application by March 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Applicants should complete all sections of the application and devote some time toward the short answer and essay questions. What are the award amounts for each scholarship?

The scholarship award amounts vary and are competitive. Applicants who meet the criteria for more than one scholarship may receive multiple awards.

Does each scholarship have specific criteria?

Most scholarships are awarded based on academic merit or financial need, although some scholarships are limited to specific majors, residents of specific geographic regions, etc. Applicants who submit an online application by March 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Are any of the scholarships renewable?

Select scholarships are renewable. For information about whether your previous scholarship is renewable, contact Dawn Hambrick at 406-243-2064COBscholarship@mso.umt.edu. All students are required to submit an online application to receive scholarship awards, renewable or not.

Do I have to have financial need?

 Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA by the priority deadline.

Do I have to be a business major?

Only business majors are eligible to receive scholarships through the College of Business.

Do I have to be a full-time student?

You must be enrolled during fall semester 2024 and spring semester 2025. Full-time enrollment status is required for undergraduate students (12 credits minimum) and graduate students (6 credits minimum).

Am I eligible if I graduate at the end of Fall 2024 semester?

You must be enrolled full-time during fall semester 2024 and spring semester 2025 to receive a 2024 - 2025 scholarship. The only exception is if you are graduating in the spring and less than full time status is needed to graduate.

Are all scholarships for Montana residents?

While some scholarships give preference to graduates of Montana high schools, many scholarships are available for non-Montana residents.

I missed the March 1 deadline, can I submit a late application?

Online applications must be submitted by March 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.

How will I know if I received a scholarship?

You will be notified by email in April 2024. If your email address changes after your online application is submitted, please notify Dawn Hambrick at COBscholarship@mso.umt.edu or at 406-243-2064 of your new email address.
