Canvas Outage
UM faculty and staff,
Canvas is currently undergoing an unexpected service disruption.
The UM IT team is investigating the outage. This issue appears to be affecting all Canvas users across the country and is not limited to UM.
We will share updates as more information becomes available.
All deans and department chairs have been notified of this disruption.
Students are currently unable to access course materials and assignments hosted in Canvas. We request that all instructors take a flexible, but consistent approach to addressing this disruption to ensure that all students have the same access to any accommodation that is made. Any mitigation should be offered to all students in the course and be consistent with any Office for Disability Equity (ODE) plans for specific students.
If you have a final exam tomorrow in person, please proceed as planned.
At this time, the deadline for submitting grades has been extended to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates on the grade submission deadline as needed.
We recognize this is a very inconvenient time of the semester for a Canvas outage of this scale, and we appreciate your patience as we work to gather more information.
