New Book featuring Indigenous Student Writers Documents Climate Change Through Native Lense
“Holding the World in Balance: Indigenous Stories of Climate, Care and Continuance,” released by the Native Resilience project - one of the Montana Climate Office's key partnerships serving Native nations across the West - features journalism, fiction, poetry and visual art produced by Indigenous writers and artists. The book also includes prompts for activities and a teacher’s guide on incorporating Indigenous ways of thinking and knowledge into K-12 classrooms.
UM’s Montana Climate Office partnered with the Salish Kootenai College Extension Office to lead the All Climate is Local project, which asked participants to combine climate data with stories from their own lives, cultures and communities.
Print versions of this book will be available in late summer or early fall, but a free e-book is available now.
