Gratitude from Commissioner Christian
Good morning, UM community.
As we close out the academic year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for the extraordinary work you have done on behalf of the University of Montana.
This was not a typical year. The unexpected leadership transition could have easily disrupted our momentum. Instead, what I witnessed across this campus was professionalism, resilience and a shared commitment to one another and to our students. You kept things moving forward — and not just moving, but advancing with determination, focus and purpose. We finish this year as strong as ever, and that speaks volumes about this institution and the people who make it what it is.
I am deeply grateful for the way this community came together.
I am excited about what lies ahead with the selection of Dr. Jeremiah Shinn as our next president. I am confident he will build on the strong foundation you have created, sustained and now strengthened even further this year — and that he will work alongside you to continue advancing the University of Montana with purpose and impact.
Most importantly, thank you — for your dedication, your collaboration and your belief in this University and its mission.
I hope you take time this summer to recharge and reflect on all that you have accomplished.
With sincere appreciation,
Clayton Christian
Montana Commissioner of Higher Education
