Where did you attend pharmacy school?

The University of Wyoming, BS Pharm. University of Montana Pharm. D.

Did you do a residency?

Yes, Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, WA.

Do you have any specialty areas of practice that you particularly enjoy?

Geriatrics, CVD risk education, HIV care.

What do you most enjoy about practicing pharmacy?

I really enjoy how health care is evolving and being able to help people everyday.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

Teaching seems to be a really natural fit for my skills and talents. Having a career in which I can help people develop skills to care for others is so rewarding. It's so fun to see others learn and grow. I absolutely love to learn, so working with the residency program has been a way to learn each and every day.

What brought you to Montana?

I was living in the Seattle area when I began dating my husband, Dan. He was living in Missoula. My sister and her family live in Great Falls, so I made the decision to move to Montana when Dan and I were engaged. It was wonderful to move here to be closer to my sister, start my family, and be in a town where I could potentially teach for the pharmacy school.

Why did you choose to be part of the FMRWM?

Being involved with the new family medicine residency program is such an opportunity. I am impressed with the vision and direction of the program, the community support, and the opportunities for interdisplinary learning experiences. I was raised in a small town in Wyoming.  Our family physician cared for me from the time I was nine, until I left for college, and he continued to be my mom's provider. It is a pleasure to help train young physicians who will care for people in small rural towns.

What are some of your interests outside of the clinic or classroom?

Most of my spare time these days is spent with my husband, Dan, my stepson, Dominck, and my daughter, Maia. I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

What do you love about Western Montana?

What's not to love! The weather is great, it's beautiful, people are wonderful, and there are so many activities.
