Are you looking for a summer job? The Freshman Wilderness Experience provides students the opportunity to get involved not only as participants but also as leaders who help to plan, organize and facilitate.

There are several student employment opportunities integral to FWE:  Primary and assistant trip leaders as well as a student coordinator, gear coordinator and food coordinator. We strongly encourage FWE alumni to apply for these positions!

Trip Leader

• Are you an undergraduate student at the University of Montana?
• Are you interested in leading incoming freshman on a four-day wilderness trip?
• Do you want to develop your leadership skills?
• Are you interested in meeting new people and working together with them?
• Do you want to have fun this summer in the region's most beautiful backcountry?

If you answered yes to all of the above, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Student Coordinator

• Are you a student at the University of Montana?
• Are you passionate and knowledgeable about outdoor recreation?
• Do you want to develop advanced communication and peer leadership skills?
• Do you enjoy managing large projects and working with diverse groups of people?
• Are you familiar with the Freshman Wilderness Experience?

We need a hardworking self-starter to take on this important role!

Gear Coordinator

•  Are you a student at the University of Montana?
• Are you passionate and knowledgeable about outdoor recreation?
• Do you have experience with group planning and know what goes into preparing for a successful wilderness experience?
• Are strong organization skills and attention to detail your thing?

We are looking for someone like you if you answered yes to these questions!

Food Coordinator

• Are you a student at the University of Montana?
• Do you love food, and do you have food service experience?
• Are you passionate and knowledgeable about outdoor recreation and cooking in the wild?
• Do you have experience with group planning and know what goes into preparing for a successful wilderness experience?
• Are strong organization skills and attention to detail your thing?
