Newly Admitted Students

Welcome to campus!

Now that you've been accepted, it's time to dive into Missoula and see all that it has to offer, on and off campus. We're excited you're here and want to help make your first semester of graduate school the best it can be. That comes with preparing for your arrival, establishing yourself in our communities, and learning how to make yourself feel at home, even with a foot of snow on the ground.

We know you have pressing questions about housing, since rental costs have gone up so fast. We encourage you to fill out a housing application as soon as you are admitted and interested in coming, since the rates are generally lower than the market. We encourage you especially to explore the Lewis and Clark Village and the University Villages.

We also know that insurance costs are a concern. While the University does require you to show proof of insurance, you are not required to purchase the student health insurance plan: it is a high premium, low deductible plan that works for some people, but might not be the right one for you. You can refuse that plan, and choose other options, including those provided under the Affordable Care Act. Curry Health Center Dental Clinic is pleased to announce that they are now a Montana Medicaid Provider. Call (406) 243-5445 or visit the online portal to schedule.

For questions, or more information, please contact Dawn Camara-Clark, Student Insurance Advocate, at 406-243-2844 orstudentinsurance@mso.umt.edu. She can help you work out the right option, but do so early, as she gets very busy with matriculating students.

Use the resources below to guide your entrance to Missoula and UM. Feel free to explore more resources for current students and reach out to the graduate school for any and all questions and concerns. Email us at grad.school@umontana.edu or call (406) 243-2572.
