Public Records
The University of Montana has a vast amount of information accessible to the public under the Montana Public Records Act. The University follows state and federal law as well as MUS guidelines for public information and records. To make a public records request, we ask that you submit through our public records request form (access via the button at the bottom of the page). We will process and respond promptly, within a reasonable timeline for the scope and complexity of requested materials. In 2026, we are receiving an unprecedented number of requests, and your request will be handled in the order it was received.
Some information (coach contracts, game contracts, and NCAA reports for athletics, etc) have become frequently requested to the point that we are working to publish these records proactively for immediate on our Nextrequest page. This is an effort in progress.
