Star Stories
We currently offer two Star Stories from the Siksikaitsitapii (Blackfoot Confederacy) tradition, and plan to offer more that honor other regional cultural traditions in the future. Both of our currently available Star Stories were told by Leo Bird, a UM graduate from Browning, MT. The stories were recorded here at the University of Montana in 2021 and then incorporated into immersive Stargazing Room experiences using the planetarium software. One is called The Woman Who Married a Star, and the other The Bunched Stars Story.
Many Native star stories can only be shared by or with certain people or in certain seasons, depending on their origin. We honor these traditions, and it is with Leo Bird’s permission that we share these stories with any audience at any time.
Cost: FREE for Native groups, otherwise $25 per show
Show duration: 45 minutes
Group size limit: 30 attendees per show
