Spring 2021 Commencement
The University of Montana is planning an outdoor, in-person, socially distanced Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
All graduates from 2020 (spring, summer and fall) are invited to join graduates of spring 2021 and summer 2021 for a day of pomp and circumstance as we celebrate your academic accomplishments.
Each student will be welcome to bring four guests to Commencement. Children age 3 and under will not require a ticket to attend but must sit on the lap of an adult. Tickets are NOT transferable between students or between morning and afternoon ceremonies. We will livestream the Commencement ceremonies so those who cannot attend can still participate remotely.
There is no action necessary at this time to claim your tickets. You will receive your guest tickets and your student ticket via your student email account the week of Commencement. At that time, you will be asked to provide the names and phone numbers of your guests for required COVID-19 mitigation contact tracing.
Students should line up on the Oval at 8 a.m. for the morning ceremony and at 1 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. Please park in the lots closest to the Oval and find your college’s banner to join the line. Large colleges will be subdivided into departments.
Parking on campus the day of Commencement is free. Information on shuttles and parking for guests will be provided in a future update.
We are excited for the opportunity to honor the classes of 2020 and 2021 on May 1st!

**We want your UM Commencement Ceremony to be a joyful celebration. We are relying on every individual in attendance to help guard against the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing and face masks will be required at all times before, during and after the Commencement Ceremony at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. UM reserves the right to deny admission to individuals who are unwilling or unable to observe these public health requirements. We are counting on your cooperation so that you, your family, friends and loved ones can enjoy this important milestone in your life.**
