Award Processing and Support
The Awards Team is your point of contact for incoming sponsored agreements at the University of Montana. We manage the receipt, review, and negotiation of award documents—ensuring every agreement is in line with institutional and state policies.
Whether it’s a Notice of Award (NoA), contract, grant, or modification, our team reviews each document carefully and, when needed, works directly with sponsors to negotiate any necessary changes to terms and conditions.
Once an award document is finalized, we obtain signatures from both a University of Montana Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) and the sponsor. The signed agreement and all related materials are then passed to the Post-Award team in a Cayuse award record for account setup and fund management.

The Awards Team is a small but dedicated group that shares the workload as awards come in. To help us keep the review process timely and efficient:
- Always email your Notice of Award, contract, grant, or modification to awards@umontana.edu.
- Make sure a completed proposal record is on file. We cannot proceed with review or signature without it.
