About Me

A self-described rabid Griz, Sara joins OSP after 20+ years as a high school English and Special Education teacher in Billings and Missoula, as well as a staff trainer at a Missoula non-profit. As a teacher, Sara was also a union officer for many years, is a retired member of MFPE and still writes and assesses micro-credentials for the National Education Association.

A graduate of UM with a BA in English, Sara was active on campus while here, as shown with her original name tags from her time as a Resident Assistant (Craig and Turner Halls), Advocate, and Songleader for SPURs, a sophomore service organization which used to exist on campus. To feed her obsession with Grizzly Athletics, Sara has been on the Griz Events staff for several years, working at all athletic events on campus. (Sara holds a MS in Special Education from MSU-Billings where she accidentally lived for 20 years.)

Over the years Sara has lived in Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, California, Texas, Louisiana and Oslo, Norway. She grew up in Helena, graduating from Helena High school. Sara has played piano as an accompanist since she was 11, and was recently able to play a few bells on our carillon, truly a dream come true! Sara has two adult sons in Missoula, along with a giant tuxedo cat named Klondike.
