Introducing: The Loop at Lommasson

The Loop @ Lommasson is the University of Montana’s campus thrift store, located in a section of the former Food Zoo space in the Lommasson Center, Room 120. The store is open to UM students and employees. A valid Griz Card is required to shop at the Loop.

  • Location: Former Food Zoo space, Lommasson Center, Room 120
    Entrance: Enter through the south doors of the Lommasson Center
    Who Can Shop: UM students and employees
    Entry Requirement: Valid Griz Card

  • Regular Store Hours: 

    • Monday: 11am - 1pm
    • Wednesday: 1pm - 3pm
    • Thursday: 9am -11am

    *These hours are always subject to change. Changes will be updated on this webpage. 

  • Donations are accepted only during open store hours, so staff and volunteers can assess items as they arrive. Donations must be given to a Loop employee. DO NOT LEAVE DONATIONS OUTSIDE THE DOOR!

    The Loop will not have permanent, unattended donation bins. Temporary donation bins may be available during designated campus collection drives and other special events.

    We welcome clean, functional items that are ready for someone else to use. Broken, dirty, unsafe, or unsuitable items may not be accepted.

    Donation Protocol: 

    • Donations must be dropped off with Loop staff. 
    • No large furniture (unless previously arranged with Loop staff). 
    • All clothing/bedding must be washed.
    • Electronic items must be tested and work. 
    • Staff reserves the right to reject any donations. 

  • The Loop helps close the loop on campus goods by keeping useful items in circulation and out of the landfill. Through donation, resale, and reuse, everyday items can find a new home instead of being thrown away.

    Shopping at The Loop also helps make clothing, appliances, and other essentials more affordable and accessible for members of the campus community.

  • The Loop @ Lommasson is now the physical home for the Griz Career Closet. While the Career Closet Committee may continue to host larger pop-up events in partnership with Experiential Learning and Career Success and other campus partners, career clothing will be available during The Loop’s regular open hours.

    Loop running and allow us to continue providing low-cost clothing and essentials to the campus community. Career clothing will be offered with suggested, affordable pricing. These small purchases help keep The Loop running and allow us to continue providing low-cost clothing and essentials to the campus community.


    We also understand that cost can be a barrier. If you need career clothing and are unable to pay, please talk with a staff member or volunteer. We are happy to work with you so that you can access the clothing you need.

  • Volunteers are crucial to the success of programs like The Loop. For various events hosted at The Loop, we will have sign-ups for volunteer slots. Keep up to date with the Sustainability Office to stay in the loop about these opportunities! 

    If you are interested in volunteering more regularly (receive and organize donations, stock the store, etc.), please reach out to us by email.
