Move-In Day Volunteers Needed

July 21, 2021

Dear UM Employees,

On Aug. 23, the quiet walkways and buildings on the UM campus will again bustle with the arrival of first-year students. The newest members of the UM Family will arrive with excitement about their collegiate experiences, nervousness about the academic demands and, for many, trepidation about living in a new city and living away from home for the first time.

We need your help to ensure our new students and their families are welcomed to campus by a friendly team that is ready to answer questions, help with parking and move belongings into the residence halls.

Please consider signing up to volunteer for a two-hour shift at Move-In on Aug. 23. For move-in to be as smooth as possible, we need 250 more time slots to be filled. After talking to your supervisor to determine if you are able to participate, I invite you to visit the Move-In Volunteers page and sign up. This is a UM-sponsored event so the use of any type of leave is not required to participate. As a thank you for your time and energy, all volunteers working a minimum of two hours will receive a T-shirt and free meal in the Food Zoo.

Special thanks to everyone who has already signed up to help, especially the groups that will be participating as teams. Together, let’s welcome our first-year students to campus, to the UM Family and to an academic year that will reflect the vibrancy of UM that we all have missed.

Sincerely,

Seth
