Orange Shirt Day - September 30, 2026
Join us on Orange Shirt Day, September 30, for a Sunrise Remembrance honoring at 7:30 a.m. at the Payne Family Native American Center Rotunda, and then community walk that recognizes the lasting impact of Federal Indian Boarding School policies on Native children, families, and communities. Along the path, signs around the Oval will share stories and facts about how boarding and residential schools shaped mistrust of government, disrupted culture, and continue to fuel disparities in health, education, and well-being.
This walk is both a remembrance of our ancestors and a recognition of the resilience of our Indigenous communities who continue to carry their stories forward. Every step is an act of truth-telling and honoring that every child matters.
Orange shirts will be available to purchase and proceeds will go toward next year's event.
