Policy Research and Analysis
AIGPI conducts expert-level, multidisciplinary research on behalf of tribal governments. Montana University System scholars are enlisted for specific projects based on the policy areas requested by tribal leaders. AIGPI also involves student consultants, who, under the guidance of AIGPI-affiliated faculty, gain hands-on experience researching, analyzing, and developing recommendations for tribal policies.
Research outcomes are shared with tribal policymakers in the form of reports, briefs, statements, and presentations. When relevant, AIGPI collaborates with UM’s Alexander Blewett III School of Law and the Margery Hunter Brown Indian Law Clinic to produce legal documents, such as tribal codes, ordinances, and intergovernmental agreements.
All AIGPI research and materials are freely accessible in our online database for tribal leaders and the public.
Note: AIGPI does not conduct feasibility studies or offer generalized consulting services.
