Can the Cats Fund Drive

It's time to Can the Cats! From November 7 through 21, the University of Montana and Montana State University will compete in the 27th annual Can the Cats competition, bringing together Grizzlies and Bobcats to fight food insecurity across Montana.

While the rivalry culminates at the 125th Brawl of the Wild, the real victory happens in our communities. Donations collected in Missoula benefit the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center and the UM Food Pantry, helping local families, individuals, and students access the food they need.

Campus Dining is proud to participate by hosting a fund drive at five dining locations across campus. Looking to contribute nonperishable food instead? Our Starbucks location in the Emma B. Lommasson Center will serve as Campus Dining's designated food collection site.

Every dollar donated counts as one pound of food toward the competition. Together, we can support our neighbors, strengthen our community, and show the Bobcats what Griz Nation can accomplish!

Bring your Griz pride to the stands! Support Can the Cats at UM Concessions during the November 7 and 14 home football games. Donate $5 or more and receive a commemorative Can the Cats pin.

Accepting Food Donations

Looking to donate food? Bring canned goods and other nonperishable food items to Starbucks in the Emma B. Lommasson Center. This is the only Campus Dining location accepting physical food donations during the competition.

Monetary donations are accepted at the UC Food Court, The Market, Biz Buzz, Recess, and UM Concessions. Simply let your cashier know you'd like to support Can the Cats. You can also donate online on the top of this page.
Starbucks at the Emma B. Lommasson Center is Campus Dining's designated food collection location. Nonperishable food items are accepted there throughout the campaign. The other participating Campus Dining locations are collecting monetary donations only.
Donations can be made using cash where accepted, credit, or debit at participating Campus Dining locations. Dining Plans, Dining Dollars, and Bear Bucks may not be used for donation.
Every dollar donated counts as one pound of food toward the Can the Cats competition total.
Donate $5 or more to Can the Cats at UM Concessions during either of the home football games on November 7 or November 14 to receive a commemorative pin.
