Responsibilities

As a student using interpreting or speech-to-text services from ODE, it's essential for you to understand your responsibilities and adhere to them.

You need to inform the Assistant Director of Interpreting and Communication Accessibility in the following situations:

  • If you make any changes to your class schedule, such as dropping or adding a class, or if your class gets canceled.
  • If you are running late or unable to attend a class session.

Please know that ODE reserves the right to take the following actions:

  • If you fail to attend class, the interpreter or captioner will leave after 20 minutes.
  • ODE temporarily suspends your interpreting or speech-to-text services if you miss three consecutive classes without notifying ODE. To reinstate the services, ODE will require you to meet with your consultant to clarify your responsibilities and agreement.
  • When you receive a course transcript, you are strictly prohibited from sharing it with others since the transcript is deemed an accommodation. If you have shared the transcript with others, ODE will terminate the provision of course transcripts because it violates the University of Montana's Student Code of Conduct.

Service Priority

Interpreting or speech-to-text services requests are prioritized as follows:
