Course Proposal Process
-
Submit your proposal (even if it’s just an idea) to our Inquiry Form. Our team will review your submission and be in touch soon.
-
A Specialty & Extended Programming team member will schedule a meeting to discuss your proposal, identify any course development needs, and discuss logistical details such as pricing.
-
If you’re seeking to offer this course for college credit, it must first be approved by an appropriate academic department. Your S&EP team member will facilitate this process; you must provide a syllabus that meets our Course Proposal Guidelines and Elements of a Syllabus as well as an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae for the instructor of record.
-
Once all of the logistics have been finalized and any necessary approvals obtained, we will provide contractual documents for you to review and sign. After that, we can begin registrations!
Program Offering FAQs
-
Yes! Credit-optional offerings allow a program the ability to expand to a greater cross-section of the population.
-
Noncredit offerings rely solely on self-support fees to operate. They have the ability to generate revenue; net revenue is disbursed between the partner organization or department, the University, and S&EP.
Extended Credit usually follows the sponsored funding model in accordance with the Montana University System Board of Regents policy. Under this model, the entity offering the course (sponsoring agency) is financially responsible for the program; only when a course is grant-funded should the revenue and expenses be administered through a University of Montana account.
-
This term refers to a special partnership between an international organization offering Extended Credit and the University of Montana, in conjunction with the Global Engagement Office. International SOR arrangements may have slight technical differences to standard Extended Credit agreements.
