What is the Performance Review cycle?

The Performance Review cycle begins July 1 and ends June 30 the following year.
Performance Reviews will be based on work performed during that time period regardless of employment schedule. Example: 10-month academic year.

Are Performance Reviews mandatory?

Yes, for all staff meeting criteria specified in Montana University System (MUS) Staff Compensation Guidelines.
Employees must be:
   Non-temporary employees (.4 FTE or greater)
   Non-union or belong to the MFPE (Montana Federation of Public Employees), Teamsters, and Laborers Union
   Individuals who supervise eligible staff.

Are supervisors required to review eligible staff?

Yes, supervisors must provide a Performance Review to eligible staff. Supervisors must complete a Performance Review form (the Supervisor Review form must be attached for those individuals who have supervisory/managerial responsibilities). Schedule a meeting to thoroughly discuss the employee's performance. Submit the signed form(s) to Human Resource Services in Lommasson 252 by Aug. 1.

Are establishing Performance Objectives required as part of the process?

While not centrally mandated, supervisors may require the employees in their area of influence to establish Performance Objectives.
