The Mansfield Dialogues are an annual series of discussions designed to bring speakers on contemporary issues to a wider audience. These critical community discussions are attended by high school and university students and community members across Montana and the world.
The Montana Constitution: The Work Between the Words. The Story of Indian Education for All Across Five Decades
Montana’s 1972 Constitution didn’t happen by accident, and neither did the promises it made to Indian Education. Both were won, and are still being won, by people who kept showing up: tribal educators, elders, and young people who testified in committee rooms, parents and educators who pushed for funding and curriculum, attorneys who fought it out in court, and legislators who carried the bills across the finish line, year after year. Carol Juneau and Denise Juneau, a mother and daughter who’ve spent their careers on opposite ends of that same fight, one in the legislature and one turning law into practice in classrooms across the state, will share the story of how a constitutional promise gets written, and how it only survives because generations of people refuse to let it go unkept.

Judicial Power Under the Constitution
The Alexander Blewett III School of Law and the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana invite you to attend the jointly presented Mansfield Lecture and Dean Robert E. Sullivan Lecture with the Honorable James E. “Jeb” Boasberg, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The lecture will take place Monday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the ALI Auditorium at the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education. University of Montana.
Land of Gold and Heartbreak: The Struggles of Japanese Immigrants in the Early 20th Century
Drawing from his new book, The Distance Between our Names, Richter will share intimate stories of Japanese immigrant's resilience, dignity, and resistance and the lessons for immigration, belonging, and American identity today.
Co-sponsored by the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula in honor of their preservation of the Alien Detention Center, which wrongfully help 1,000 Japanese residents from 1941-1944.
