Defense Language & Security Studies Program
Since 2008, DLSSP (formerly called the Defense Critical Language & Culture Program) has specialized in immersing students in foreign language and regional expertise studies to support their educational and professional goals.
DLSSP has particularly focused on the mission critical needs of current and future national security professionals, serving as a Language Training Center since 2011. The Language Training Centers Program is an initiative sponsored by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) and administered by the Institute of International Education.
We tailor courses to meet the needs of service members and work directly with our government partners to meet specific mission requirements. DLSSP instructors bring native language and culture proficiency to each of their lessons. DLSSP offers classes through a wide range of platforms, including Microsoft Teams, in-residence, mobile training teams, and blended options – all tailored to our students' needs. DLSSP has successfully worked with thousands of service members since 2008, building our students’ language proficiency, enriching their regional expertise, and giving them access to college credit.
